REVIEW – Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman

A book review by Shanice Dover

Are you looking for a great book to get lost in?

Then the search is over! Malorie Blackman, the author of award winning books, “T.H.I.E.F.” and “Pig heart Boy”, has now released her next best selling book, “Noughts and Crosses”
The book tells a story of a teenage boy and girl and their struggle in a world where crosses are the first class citizens and the noughts are treated unfairly.

As Sephy is the daughter of a very important cross man and Callum is a nought, the two friends are desperately fighting to save their friendship but can Noughts and Crosses ever really mix?
There’s never a dull moment in this book, it’ll have you full of questions from the first page until the last. Prepare yourself for a completely un-predictable read. Malorie Blackman has a way of pulling you into the story; it’s almost as if you are the character feeling and thinking just as they are.

Malorie Blackman had other plans than being a writer. She previously travelled around Europe and the US as a database manager. Her love for books however, inspired her to begin writing. She started writing children’s books which were televised for channel 4 schools.
Noughts and Crosses have already received many good reviews and many awards, some of these include:

FCBG Children’s Book Award 2002
BBC Big Read Top 100 Title – Number 61
Lancashire Children’s Book of the Year Award 2002
Sheffield Children’s Book of the Year Award 2002
Wirral Children’s Book of the year award 2003
Fantastic Fiction Award 2004

Malorie Blackman wrote a short add on book called “An eye for an Eye” for World book day which was recently added on to a special edition in Noughts and Crosses. We here at Teenage Fiction think Noughts and Crosses will be the next big book so clear your schedule, make a cup of coco and tell your friends you’ve gone on holiday for a few days because you won’t be able to put this book down!

  1. this book is outstanding it was quite hard to understand at first and it was a struggle to follow the book because it is hard to differentiate which are being referred to because the characters are similar.
the book had an upsetting ending as the callum was hung.
i had read the book during school in english and i had to read on as it had created an image in my mind. page after page.. i just wanted to read on.. i couldnt put the book down.. to me it relates to the history of ‘ the black achievments’ in a different point of view. for example instread of the blacks being slaves… second class they were wealthy… and it wad the other way around for the whites….

one faulty was that the ending was rushed slightly as it had all happend in a sudden and was difficult to understand

  2. noughts and crosses was such a great read i have read it over and over!! i love the way this was written because it alternates between charaters for each “chapter” it really works as real life aswell as a book because people get comments on what they look like or how they act.
i loved this book although it was a little confusing because i kept forgetting if i was reading about callum or sephy!!

    overall a brilliant book

  3. noughts and crosses is my favourite book and i have read it many times. This story is like a real life situation and brings tears to your eyes and sorrow to you heart.
this book is imaginative and is written with compassion, thought and sensitivity.
It should be made into a movie!! thats an idea!!

  4. From the moment I started it to the end I was hooked into the world of Sephy and Callum. Every emotion the characters felt surged from the pages and went into me. I have seen this book long time ago but I thought it looked boring that I didnt even bother to glance at the blurb. I WAS TOTALLY WRONG. 2 years later I saw it on the library shelf and decided to give it a go and im so grateful that I did. Malorie Blackman made it so realistic that I actually felt like I was part of the story, as if I was sneaking into Callum and Sephy’s life. It was so emotional and gripping that I didnt feel a hint of boredom but a surge of emotions instead. The seperation between the two when Sephy went to Chives ripped me apart as she drew to the wrong conclusions. I felt so happy for Sephy when Callum revealed his love for her and cried when they had to get separated again in the forest. But the worst bit was when Callum got hanged!!! As he was walking up to the scaffold i was waiting every moment for someone to shout ‘STOP HE INNOCENT’ but it didnt happen and I broke into tears again when Callum cried waiting for Sephy somewhere in the crowd. What keep on thinking is, would things have been different if Callum found the letter on time?

  5. It’s a great story and I love the book. It’s very much like Romeo and Juliet

  6. Ive just finished the trilogy there the best 3 books ive ever ead it was as if u were each person as it changed from chapter to chapter i couldnt put the book down!

  7. What a great book, although it made me cry at the end and still does, but maybe thats what makes a good book. i’ve heard Malorie Blackman is writing another one in the series. PLEASE SAY THATS TRUE!!!She really shows the racial discrimination between the noughts and crosses, but also shows that there can still be love between them (callum and sephy).Sometimes i think,’Why kill Callum off?’ and sometimes i think ‘But then other things wouldn’t have happenned in An Eye For An Eye, Knife Edge and Checkmate.’Noughts and Crosses was so good, i read it in a day!

  8. excelent book

  9. Malorie your books are fantastic and i’m tryin to learn all about u cos i’m sure your interesting. But i cant find out enough info on you.
You’ve really inspired me not to write but to read lol

  10. cool book, really.

    wonderful.

  11. The book is awesome! I cant believe how you can actually make the characters feel this real in a psycological manner. I’m a journalist and even though i don’t really read this book is very good

  12. An amazing book.

  13. theres nothinq else to say about this book its but it’s amazing, i havent read the mother books yet but i am dying to read it!! this is the first AND only book ive read and cried to. Even though i am really young i felt like i had the same feelings of callum and sephy while reading this book. i am a huge fan of reading and as soon as i heard that it was a trilogy, i begged my mom to buy it and when i get, i will not put it down. i was really depressed atfter i read the book because i thought that it was supposed to be a “happily ever after type of story” but than i fugured out that the moral of the story is that theres never an happily ever after when it comes to racism its an “cat’s” game meaning no one ever wins

  14. I THIINK DA\ BOOK IS KOOL. I LIKED WHEN MY FAVORITE BIT IS WHEN STEHY HAS CALLIE ROSE AND ARE LOCKRD UP IN DA ATTIC. I ALSO THOUGHT THE BIT WHEN CALLAM DIED WAS SAD

  15. Read this book in one day straight , heh and im on holiday , couldnt be bothered sight seeing today :D , great book very emotional and very sadening towards the end. Cannot wait to get the next book. I found it very strange the author killed Callum off.. things just wont be the same without the love :( .

  17. errm..well i aint read this bok like the rest of you hus put a message down, but i started it becasue the women who made this review forced me! i thought it was ok but i soon got bored of it…i think the child called it is better, (that was what my review was about) but that should of been on this website for everyone to see!
well gdbye fans of this strange book…with strange people ho read it!

  18. I LOVED THIS BOOK SOOO MUCH!! it made me go out and buy the other two book Knife Edge and checkmate.. the ending of this book made me cry though..

I was really upset by it but, when reading this book i found that i couldnt put it down, so i stayed up 24 hours to read it !!! hahahahahahahahaha

    LOVED IT!!! GREAT BOOK!!

  19. hey and message 14 katrina?? Sephy nd callie rose get locked up in the attic in the third book- checkmate!!! LOLZ

  20. This book is just the best!!!!!! I can’t read the next one!!!! but it won’t be the same without calum …

  21. Wow first of all such an amazing book in which my eyes and hands were literally stuck to the book until I finished it! I love the language that Malorie Blackman uses in this novel. It kept me guessing to the very end.

I loved the fact that from the first page all these questions were running through my mind, until I read on and discovered that despite all the questions that needed answering I actually had not even answered what is truly (in my opinion) the most important answer in the book….To what race do you actually associate the noughts and crosses to? I was shocked to read that bit where Lynette had revealed who they are as a race, when during the first part of the book I had already in my mind associated to which race the noughts & crosses were associated with.

Malorie Blackman is very clever in how she writes.

Second of all, I am a teenager who constantly is only involved with other activities other than reading. As soon as I picked up this book by Malorie Blackman, I honestly can say it has got me addicted to picking up more and more books off the library shelf!! Now I’ve been able to read up to 4 each month which is more than I would ever be able to read in a whole year. If only Malorie Blackman could see the people that she has truly inspired through her own writing.

Thank you sooo much Malorie Blackman!!! Truly an inspiration.

  22. Loved This Book :D
    Cried at the end though.
Now I’m driving my friends nuts trying to convince them to read it.
So far I have convinced one of them.
Doing a book review on it for school, for the second time.
Although I’m not allowed to use my old one :(
    Oh Well.

  23. Also read the other 2, and now Mallorie Blackman is my favourite author.
Whilst loving the books, they upset me slightly as I realised that that is what life is like for some people in the world.

  24. WOW! Ive just finished the whole noughts and crosses series and I can honestly say they were the best books I have ever read. The first book (noughts and crosses) was so deep and fantastic. The ending made me upset and I became quite attached to the character callum. So I was oviously sad when he died. Personally I would of prefered for him to still be alive in the other two books but if he had, then the series wouldnt of ended the way it did. I still did like the ending though.

When I first saw the book, i thought it would be boring and that I wouldnt enjoy it. One day i decided i would give the book a read and I was astonished. I was mistaken thinking the book was boring because it wasnt at all. It was superb! 10 out of 10!

After reading all three books I think the best one was noughts and crosses but i did enjoy and love the other two books. Noughts and crosses is definately a must read. Impossible to forget.

  25. This was probably the best book I’ve ever read. I cried so much in the end!!! I must have read it at least ten times! It deals with sensitive issues. The controversial world Ms Blackman has created is intruiging and I cant get enough. Her characters are amazing and I hope that one day I can write like her some day.

  26. let me first say…WOWWWWW!! this book was and is still the best book i have ever read! im a harry potter fan and i even think its better than harry potter! WAY BETTER! it deals a lot more with real life issues and love and its a book i can relate to.
i read the whole trilogy and for my christmas list i put ANOTHER BOOK on it…u cant end it like that! theres still so many loose ends..but we’ll see. the most powerful book was probably knife edge coz of Judes points of view, especially the scene of Cara :| wow some powerful scene! but i always loved checkmate because we get to see how life is like for callie rose…but omg im still a bit atonished by the ending of the book! does jasmine and jude actually die!?!? i was like nooo jasmineee she so brave!!
but out of the whole trilogy NOUGHTS AND CROSSES would have to be my favourite book of all timeeee…its just too good, i can read it a million times and not get bored.
i REALLY REALLY REALLY want them to make it into a FILM! PLEASE! all u film directors and producerd out there! plz have a think about it :]…but i heard they making it as a play in the theatre so that will be wicked..im gonna go see it! coming out in around october or november..CANT WAIT!
all those ppl who havent read this book and think its boring….i assure u give it a try..coz u will just be soo emotional into the book and start to actually feel wat the characters are feeling.
    BEST BOOK EVER!

  27. Kiieran Groom,

Your Reveiw is not better than shanices!! Face it shes a better reviewer than you !! Lmao
Tiis very good shanice well done keep up the good work!!

    In english !

    Shanoon

  28. This is one of the most amazing books I have ever read! Whilst reading it I also listened to the Muse album Absolution and now whenever I hear a song from the album it always makes me think of Callum and Sephy. I cried so many times while reading this book and I know I’m not the only one but that just shows how amazing it is that it can touch people deeply enough to make them cry. It would be great if it was made into a film but would have to be exactly the same as the book or else it just wouldn’t be right. The other books are just as amazing.

  29. Hi everyone…dont know if any of you know but the RSC are doing a stage play of Noughts and Crosses in Stratford this xmas…have been thinking and i think Pippa Bennett-Warner (Caroline or Change) and Andrew Garfield (The Overwhelming) would be perfect for Sephy and Callum….

Here are their pages on Wikipedia!!!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pippa_Bennett-Warner
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Garfield

  30. I’ve read the book and i really didn’t want it to end !! i was REALLY hoping that callum wouldn’t die but sadly he did !!! i was SOOOO upset when i read the last two pages….i think those pages made everyone think over and over again why didn’t he just open the letter and go and live a life with sephy!!! I’d love it if there was a film…but i don’t actually think it would be the same characters as you imagine it in your own head…but it would be good !!
but i LOVE THIS BOOKKK….ITS THE BEST BOOK IVE READ!!!
I havent read the other two books – knife edge or checkmate but i will soon !!! but everyone knows that it’s not going to be the same without him.
The book made me feel like was part of it…becasue it was so emotional and i could feel the same pain as Sephy ! but if you havent read it…you have to try !!! ITS THE BEST !!!

  31. Callum McGregor is one of the most amazing characters in all of fiction. When he went to the dark side aka the L.M I thought I was going to have a stroke I loved the moment where they had kidnapped Sephy and the others had gone to do that telephone thing and had left Callum there with Sephy and he just leant by the door begging not to be there because hearing her voice and seeing her face would make him forget all the things he had done since they were apart. In that moment I realized that no matter what they had one through they would be there for each other. I also loved the part when Sephy was drunk and they argued then Callum kissed her to show he didnt care that she stunk of cider and then he lay in bed thinking about her praying they could be together. The book just draws me to him and when he was about to be hanged I was praying for someone to burst through the doors scream that hanging was now illegal. And then the moment where he died I felt like walkin up to the top of Canary Whalf and jumping off it beacause I had really fell in love with his character and although he had been quite mature in the beginning of the book I loved watching him grow more and breaking his barriers from the moment he asked Sephy to kiss him that day on the beach in the first chapter to the moment where he whispered he loved her in her bedroom.

AN EDITED VERSION OF THE ONE ABOVE SORRY FOR ALL THE GRAMMATICAL MISTAKES

  32. Iv read the whole trilogey and they are BRILLIANT! Every girl in my class has read them.

  33. Noughts and Crosses has got to be one of the greatest books i’ve ever read. I would love to read it again with a blank mind so id be shocked, surprised, happy, sad, angry and all loved up by Callum. He’s the epitome of what i look for in a guy. 10/10

  34. I’m Dutch. I never read. I’m always behind my computer, or my gameboy (yes i’m lame)and i’m 15. But this book has impressed me so much. It gave me the push I needed to start enjoying books.
    Thanks Malorie Blackman.!

  35. you are great i love your books malorie blackman i am on the knife edge cant wait to finish reading it………….

  36. WHY………..WHY?!? Did Callum have to die?!? Malorie Blackman please write an alternate ending where Callum doesn’t die and Sephy pretends to get an abortion and they run away together and live happily ever after!!! I think they should make a film as well of all three!!! I’d love to star as Callie-Rose!!!! I’m forever practising in the mirror

  37. I LOVE CALLUM

  38. i loved callum and it hurted me deeply wen he fell in love with sephy it just broke my heart. he turned his back on me, i gave him my heart and he STEPPED ON IT. I HATE YOU CALLUM MCGREGOR AND I HOPE U DIE. i sat in my bedroom for weeks, didnt eat or sleep because HE did that to me.
i cried every day and felt soo betrayed. how could u do this callum, how??!!!!! how can u be so cold-hearted, evil and to top it off u told her u loved her. shes younger than u for goodness sakes!!
everiday i think about wat we could’ve had but u threw that all away wen u kissed he the first time. huh about u wanted to know it felt u liar u had another agenda didnt u. i dont eva want to see u again. and tell ur sister lynette she can go to hell as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  39. I think this book was absolutely amazing.. the way sudden twists and turns happened.. the relationship between Callum and Sephy was so strong that no amount of years could break it up! I loved it when Callum sneeked into Sephy’s room and they were discussing what to call the baby! It was so sweet! :D
Also, when they were both sleeping together and while Sephy was asleep Callum told her that he loved her! It was such a touching book! I was crying so much when Callum died! I was waiting for the moment where someone would talk to Callum like they did to Ryan McGregor! Overall excellent book! :D Very heart warming! :D

  40. Im in love with this book series, the books were moving & i could put them down. It was heartbreaking seeing the character’s die, especially Callum. Every book had its own feeling. You fall in love with each and every character for their own reasons. I didnt want it to end & i hope Mallory writes an alternative ending. For me, personally, i love Callum. I think his character was so magical and strong, it really hurt when he was hanged. He’s one of the most amazing fictional characters i’ve even read about, he was himself, i admire him greatly. His dying scenes were horrible to read. It was so sweet of him to think writing that letter to sephy would help her to move on, & it proved how he would do anything for her & little Callie Rose. He wasnt a bad person at heart, he done the right thing letting Sephy go that night. It was magical reading about how Callum & Sephy were such good friends and more. You start to become the character after reading all 3 books. They’re described so well & the story line of the book is very gripping. There were emotional moments, cute moments, romantic moments & downright terrifying moments aswell. They had me hooked for ages. <3

  41. I read this book when it first came out. i am stil in school and at first everyone laughed ‘cus its sort of shakespeare but then i lent it 2 sum1 n started a craze. old copy now so battered i bought a new 1. i loved the whole trilogy and it really opened my eyes to the stupid stuff like never seing a black plaster. Am now far more informed about history and have learned 2 look deeper into thing that seemed simple at first. THANK YOU FOR OPENING MY EYES MALORIE BLACKMAN!!!

    READ THIS BOOK!!!

  42. Hav seen theatre version in Stratford!!! FANTABULOUS!!!!! i cried! (I am tomboy by the way EXTRA SHOCKING!!!) This would make a fantastic film and I urge anyone to go see the theatre version. My heart snapped in half at the end. There was a noose and everything. GO SEE IT! if there is a film it will be great but i agree with above, the characters would have to be played by brilliant unknown actors!!!

  43. the best book ever no matter what everyone says.

the book was so gripping that i had to force myself to put it down. and even then i had to stop myself picking it back up again.

how the author creates the characters is amazing as they have all got their own personalities which is gr8!! i’m so glad there will be another book called double cross realeased in autumn 2008 can’t wait!!

my school are going to the theatre to see their version and i can’t wait!! :)

  44. LOVE THE NOUGHTS AND CROSSES TRILOGY!!!
MAKE A MOVIE OF THEM SOME MOVIE MAKER WHO READS THIS, PLEASE!!!!!!!

  45. my gosh, what can i say about this book… i just finished it and it left me in tears, the auther has a very good imagination and she brings up the characters well, and makes them dramatc. i have never read a book that brings this much effect on me in my life!

  46. Dear any type of FILM MAKER!!!

You have to make a movie out of these books! They are amazing!
You could even make a sequels for these movies!
    It would be soo AMAZING!!!
    PLEASE!!!

  47. omg!!!

i read all the three books on 2 weeks- i got them from the library but now i still wanted one, (i got the set on chrismass) – it was so amazing- i fell in love with jude and i just wished more than ever that i was cara (cuz he fell in love wit her) even though he kills her at the end. toby and callie rose were so cute espaically toby cuz he keeps telling callie rose really funny stuff (like the sky’s having sex) and gets in trouble for it!!!- i really want to see callie rose , callum, jude, sephy and all the other characters come to real life!!- so badly so pleesssssssse- i beg all those film makers- make a film about it!!!-

there were some sex scenes- my friend keep reading them and it just makes you love the book more-

after i read the book i saw black soo beautiful- it just makes all those black ppl so specail- and i never thought of the fact about the white skin as ‘blank’.

she is so amazing- i really want malori blackman to make another bookcuz i want to know the life of callie rose- even though my questions are all answered now!!

I LOVE THT BOOK AND IF THEY MADE A FILM OUT OF IT IT WOULD BE MY BEST FILM AS WELL!!!!

SHE’S THE BEST WRITER IN THE WORLD!!!

    LOVE YOU SOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  48. the sex scene was like out of this world.

  49. i think they should make a film of noughts and crosses!!! i think pippa bennett-warner (caroline or change) would be perfect for the role of sephy!!!
    x

  50. Neva red dis book before heard itz gd but dunno but fanx 4 da reviews it wuz for ma hmk lmao

  51. The Noughts & Crosses trilogy were the best books I’ve ever read. Seriously! I LOVED the first book! Me and my friends took turns reading the book and we found it truely touching throughout the book especially during the ending! Emotional book and truely amazing!

    x

  52. I LOVED THIS BOOK IT IS SO FULL OF SUPRISES ITSREALLY GOOD SO MY ADVICE FOR EVRYBODY IS READ THE BOOK IF YAH SEE IT I LOVED THE BIT WHEN JUDE WENTTO MINEVRAS HOUSE IT IS SO THRILLING
WEL THTS IT BUT IT IS AN AMAZING BOOK…..!

  53. This novel is amazing! I read it for the first time in 2006 and have read plenty of times since. I’ve never actually cried during a book, but I came extremely close with this one.
Malorie makes Sephy and Callum sound so real that you can’t help but grow close to them.
If they don’t turn this into a movie, I think I’ll turn it into one when I get older.

  54. I love all three books and on saturday I saw the RSC version of it.
It was AMAZING!!! richard madden plays callum and is a fantastic actor. All of the characters were how I imagined them it was spot on.
Callum’s hanging was the most emotional experience i probs have ever had it was just as I thought it should be.
I hope the RSC do the next two books but sadly callum probs won’t be in it.
I recommend all Noughts and Crosses fans to see it if they can. It was amazing.

  55. the books are absolutely brilliant but they could be just a little bit happier i mean they are extremely depressing at time

  56. i’m going to see the RSC versoin on wednesday i can’t wait it sounds brilliant

  57. was sephy pretty in the play??

  58. i Loooove This Book.. My English Teacher Gave it To us To Read.. im in Year 10! Buut i Love it.. totally Awesome.. And i’ve Read Version One.. Version Two is Next And Three! YAAAAYYY!

  59. I love this book they should turn it into a movie. i absolutly loved callums chracter and sephy’s as well. i knew from the moment they kissed in the first chapeter that they would fall in love. Callum tried to hide the fact that he loved her until he just couldn’t hold it in anymore….it was really sad when callum died but in another way its was a good thing because he probally knew that if he died, he could be bringing something new to the world that love between a nought and a cross really exsisted…. i also think dat sephy should have just stayed put cuz everying would have been different for them… newais i like the other two books but its not the same without callum :( luv da book xxx

  60. this book was amazing and i loved it. In fact, i loved the whole trilogy and although i’d prefer it to be made into a film, it’s being made into a play

    http://www.thestage.co.uk/reviews/review.php/19111/

^that link tells a little bit about it and shows the people playing sephy and callum

i’mn gonna go see it. Hope it’s as good as the books. x

  61. hi evryone first and foremost i want to say thanks to my sister who gave me the book
i also want to say thank you malorie blackman , the trilogy made me understand more about myself as i read the books . i love noughts and crosses mainly becoz it has callum in it. nobody talks about jude but i guess without him the books wouldnt have been as good and as real. thanks malorie for the message that love truly conquers all. (eventually) and that love lives on and transcends time. im jsu sorry the book got to me 2008 n not sooner bt i guess it wuldnt have had its effect back then. peace out evryone

  62. oh by the way i cant wait for callie rose and tobey’s book

  63. noughts and crosses is a class book it has many twists and turns but in the end, it has a dramatic ending. everyone doesnt want callum to die but yet nobody wants sephy to have an abortion. i think sephy made the right decision. even though nobody wants callum to die. to kill sephys baby would be cruel. callum died for his baby and he is the hero. :d

  64. dis book iz badmon!

  65. :D

All I Have to so is wow :D
    This book is amazing!
It Feel so real and you feel for sephy and calum and their love that will never happen
The end made me want to cry i felt the involved x

  66. Hi,, i enjoyed the book very much, but why did callum have to die i dont understand to be honist i think that the baby should die in stead of callum they could of had a another one, its not like they meant that baby, they coul hav had more in the future. i wish you didnt kill callum off, it could of killed sephy’s dad off, kamall hadly by they could of shot him by the LM. Thats my oppinion. :|

  67. it was good

  68. the book didnt have the ending i expected this anoyed me

  69. Awesum best book i have ever read ! .

Cant wait to read the other 2 !

  70. I’ve read all three books and can’t wait for the fourth one. A film would be just great, please if a studio exec or a filmmaker or agent reads this…don’t leave this story on the shelf. For the brothers McGregor Callum and Jude two names instantly came to my mind while I was reading: Ewan McGregor (see, even the surname matches! :) ) would be perfect for the ice cold Jude. And Callum? I can think of no other than Tom Felton of Harry Potter fame. He is a very good actor, and this role would give him a chance to shake off the Draco image,as Callum is a complete opposite….
Sephy would probably have to be a newcomer…I can think of no-one…

  71. when callum joind the L.M. i was lyk omg what the hell was he doing and when he kidnapped sephy i was like noooo and i felt so sorry for her but then yu could tell that callum felt really sorry for her. I didn’t want to sho her that he still loved her.

  72. this book was absolutely amazing ,i could not get enough of it.Callum and Sephy were just the best.i have not read the second and third book yet but i can’t wait to read what Malorie Blackman has to give in next i would recommend this book any time well done Malorie.

  73. OMG me n my frien Lottie LOVED this book… We were fightin over who gets Callum in real lyf… I WON!!!!!! (mwa ha ha ha) he sounds soooo fit! i luved this book… WOW!
    I WANT CALLUM….
    Charlie
    xxx

    P.S — They should so make a film… i would soooo audition!!!

  74. Oh BTW —- I LUV CALLUM MCGREGOR!!!!
    ha ha! :D
I would so b Sephy Doublecross!!!
    Think of me now!

  75. looolz yh same he soounds penggg loolz

  76. looolz yh same he soounds penggg loolz

  77. Yes I really wish they would make a film out of Noughts and Crosses. I really thought it would have been done by now to be honest, its such a good book. James McAvoy would have been perfect for Callum if he was a little younger. But the actors who play Chris and Jal in Skins could be Calum and Sephy right?

  78. Best thing I have ever read, literally!!
Ive now read the whole series twice and can’t wait for the fourth to come out (just after my B-day)
I really want to know who Callie and Sephy picked in the end (hope it was Nathan for Sephy)!! xx

  79. Make it into a movie!!!
    xx

  80. What the hell was Callum doing writing the stupid letter?!?!?! Oh well, it all turned good in the end!!
This book really got me thinking about the way we all treat others based on next to nothing (mainly apperance)!! :(

  81. loved this book loved thw hole trillogy! some fo the best work ive ever read!

  82. absolutly wonderful! i read it about 2 years ago and i still remember every detail! loved the book and the trillogy! i agree it would make an awesome movie!
    xx

  83. I was recommended this book by 1 of my friends and i think i read it in like 2 days, then i got the second and third books for my birthday.

the first 1 is the best by far as there is callum and sephy together, althiugh the other 2 are really good! :D

i cried tho wen callum got hung, i woz like, WHY!

i keep thinking y did he join the LM, then i thought, the book would be a lot different i fhe didn’t, and it wouldn’t be as great a story !

hope malorie blackman writes a fourth coz i want to now who callie rose and sephy choose!

  84. also hioping they make it a movie! but then they would probably miss a lot out!

oh well, they should still do it!

  85. Jude is soooo dark and evil in the second and third books. ino he was a bit nuts in the first, but it did show he loved his brother ! :D he made callie rose/ rose/ callie whatever she wants to be called evil too.

    good twist malorie blackman

  88. Make it a movie.

  89. Seriously.

  90. In year 7 i just passed that book because i thought it looked boring.

I am so glad that now i have decided to read it.

*If you havent read all the books then there are some minor spoliers

The ending to Noughts and Crosses and Knife Edge really made me cry, especially Knife Edge because Callie Rose was the only person Stephy had left D:

I keep wondering what would have happened if Callum had got the letter in time, or if Jasmine hadnt been ill, i have to admit that before i wouldnt have carried on reading after such a sad ending to the first book, but i just really wanted to find out how Stephy was coping.

You are a brilliant writer Malorie Blackman. Keep it up :)

  91. Oh and i think that these books would make incredible films, someone should seriously consider that.

And as a heads up, i wouldnt read a child called it, its a lot worse than this storyline.
